How to Turn Off a Computer From Safe Mode
Your company's computers are likely to act up from time to time, and safe mode is one option you can use to troubleshoot the problem. Safe mode prevents most third-party applications from starting when the computer boots; only the programs and drivers required by the operating system are loaded. It might seem confusing to a PC user not familiar with safe mode, as the type on the screen may be larger because no video drivers were loaded. Despite the unusual appearance, shutting down a computer in safe mode is easier than it sounds.
Shutting Down
-
1.
Click "Start." If you cannot see the Start orb on your desktop, press the "Windows" key.
-
2.
Click "Shut Down." Click "Yes" if you are prompted to confirm.
-
3.
Turn the computer back on, allow it to boot, and log in to Windows normally.
Disabling Safe Mode
-
1.
Click "Start" and type "msconfig" into the search box.
-
2.
Press "Enter" and select the "Boot" tab.
-
3.
Deselect "Safe Boot" under Boot Options and click "Apply." You will still be able to activate safe mode by tapping the "F8" key when the boot screen comes up.

Tips
- If the computer stops responding while you are in safe mode, hold the "Power" button for 10 seconds until the computer shuts off. This forces a shutdown, but it should only be used when necessary as it may cause file corruption.
