How To Take a Screen Shot With WordPad
WordPad is a simple word processor that is native to all versions of the Windows operating system. Although WordPad has all the basic functions you would need to create a text document, it is unable to take screen shots of your documents. To take a screen shot with WordPad, you must use the Snipping Tool, a tool that enables you to capture screenshots of anything on your desktop in Windows 7. The Snipping Tool is a native tool, so you don't have to download anything.
-
1.
Launch WordPad and open or create a document.
-
2.
Click the Windows "Start" button.
-
3.
Type "Snipping" in the Search field at the bottom of the Start menu.
-
4.
Click "Snipping Tool" in the search results list to launch the utility.
-
5.
Click and drag the cursor over the area you want to capture -- in this case the WordPad window.
-
6.
Release the mouse button and the captured screenshot is displayed in the Snipping Tool.
-
7.
Click the "File" menu at the top of the window and select "Save As" from the drop-down menu.
-
8.
Select the type of image you want to generate from the Save As Type drop-down menu. For example, you can select to create a JPEG, GIF, PNG or HTML file.
-
9.
Type a name for your screen shot in the File Name field and select the folder where you want to save it.
-
10.
Click "Save" to save the screen shot.
