How to Rename Subfolders in Zip Files
The ZIP format is an industry standard format for compressing and archiving files and, thanks to its great popularity in both the workplace and at home, it has been natively supported by Windows since Windows Millennium edition. To rename sub-folders inside a ZIP archive, however, you will need to extract it, since modifying the contents requires direct access to the folder.
-
1.
Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Computer." Navigate to the location of the ZIP file you wish to modify.
-
2.
Right-click on the ZIP file and click "Extract All."
-
3.
Click "Extract." The extracted contents of the file will appear.
-
4.
Navigate to the sub-folder you want to rename, right-click it and click "Rename." Type a new name and press "Enter."
-
5.
Return to the root directory of the extracted contents and select all files and folders contained within. Right-click on the selected area, click "Send to" and click "Compressed (zipped) folder." A new ZIP file will be created and you can enter a name for it once the process is complete.
