How to Play WMA Files
You can play Windows Media Audio files in the Microsoft Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player is installed by default along with the Windows operating system. However, you can also play WMA files in other media players, such as WinAmp, VLC and iTunes. ITunes transcodes the WMA file format to the Apple ACC format before playing the file.
Play WMA Files in WinAmp or VLC

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the WMA file on your hard drive, external drive or CD.

Right-click or tap and hold the WMA file. The context menu opens.

Click or tap the “WinAmp,“ “VLC” or other compatible media player option in the context menu. The audio file opens and begins to play in the selected player.
Play WMA Files in iTunes

Open the iTunes application.

Click or tap the “File” option on the top navigation bar, then click or tap “Add File to Library.” The file navigation window opens.

Click or tap the “Browse” button and navigate to the WMA file.

Click or tap the WMA file, then click “Open.” The WMA file is automatically converted to the AAC format and added to the iTunes library.
