How to Make a Hotspot for an iPhone With iOS 4.3
Enabling the Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone allows you to use the cellular data connection of your iPhone to access the Internet with your other devices. Starting with iOS version 4.3, Apple supplied a standard screen for users to enable this feature; however, make sure to contact your cellular provider before you enable Personal Hotspot, as many providers charge additional fees if you tether external devices through your iPhone.
-
1.
Tap "Settings," tap "Wi-Fi," and then tap "On" to enable Wi-Fi on your iPhone.
-
2.
Tap "Network," tap "Set Up Personal Hotspot," and then tap "On" from the main Settings screen to turn on the Personal Hotspot feature.
-
3.
Enter a password to protect access to your iPhone's Personal Hotspot just as you would for your home network's Wi-Fi router. This step is important because like other Wi-Fi access points, anyone can see your iPhone's Personal Hotspot when you have it enabled, and then use your connection without your knowledge unless you have a password to protect it.
