Why Is My Mac Mouse Going All Over the Place?
While you are busy working on a project, the last thing you need is for your Mac mouse to start jumping around the screen as you move it. When the mouse causes your cursor to go all over the place, it typically means you are having tracking problems. While your Mac mouse will work on most surfaces, occasionally, something on the surface may cause problems, or your mouse may have some minor technical problem that you can usually resolve.
-
1.
Move your mouse to a different surface, or use a different mouse pad underneath it. If that does not work, try the System Preferences.
-
2.
Select "Apple," then "System Preferences," then "Mouse" from the Hardware section to open the Mouse dialog. Drag the "Tracking" slider with the mouse to change how the cursor moves across the screen.
-
3.
Look at the sensor on the bottom of the mouse. If you see dirt or dust, spray it with compressed air to clean it.
-
4.
Click the "Bluetooth" icon at the top of the screen, and click on "Disconnect" for every device but your mouse to see if the problem is signal-related.
