How to Get My Earphones to Work in a Samsung Galaxy S III
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 3.5-mm headset jack on the top of the bezel where you can plug in earphones. You can also connect a headset via Bluetooth. While there's no setup required to plug in earphones, you must adjust your settings to turn on Bluetooth and connect earphones that work wirelessly. Regarding wired connections, some Galaxy S3 users have experienced problems with the earphone jack, which may prevent you from using earphones.
Bluetooth Settings
-
To pair your earphones, tap the Apps icon, tap "Settings," and then tap "Bluetooth." Tap "Scan" to look for your earphones and when they appear, click their entry and enter the PIN. Once paired, the audio will play through the earphones.
If you have shake to update enabled, you can shake the Galaxy S3 to search for new Bluetooth devices.
Jack Problems
-
Some early Galaxy S3 units had 3.5mm headphone jacks that were too large. If the fit isn't tight, and you're comfortable taking your phone apart, you can replace the jack and loudspeaker to make your earphones fit the phone snugly. If the phone is still under warranty, take it in to be serviced.
You should also check the jack for dirt or corrosion that may be preventing a successful connection.
