How to Delete Icons From a Droid X
The Droid X lets you create shortcuts for easy access to files, settings, features and apps. All shortcuts appear on one of your phone's seven home screens, and you can add, move or delete icons as needed. Deleting an icon does not delete any file or app that the icon refers to, so you won't lose your data unless you also delete the associated item manually. Folder icons usually have multiple shortcuts to items within them, so you can choose to either delete the entire folder or specific icons inside the folder.
-
1.
Locate the icon you want to delete from your Droid X's home screen. If the icon is on one of your phone's other home screens, swipe your finger to the right to proceed to the next home screen. If you plan to delete a specific icon within a folder, first tap the folder's icon to display its contents before proceeding.
-
2.
Press down on the icon you want to delete until it becomes bigger and a trash can displays at the bottom of the screen. If you have the Gingerbread version of Android OS, the trash can icon will appear at the top of the screen instead.
-
3.
Drag the icon to the trash icon to delete it from your Droid X's home screen. Repeat the process to delete any other unwanted icons.

Tips
- Deleting a program's icon from the home screen does not uninstall that program. If you need to remove a program, tap the "Settings" icon on your phone's Applications tab. Tap "Applications," followed by "Manage Applications," and then tap "All" to view a list of installed apps. Tap the app you want to uninstall, tap the "Uninstall" button and then tap "OK" to remove it from your phone.
- If you decide you want to restore a deleted shortcut icon, make a new shortcut for the item by pressing your Droid X's "Menu" key and selecting "Add." Tap "Folders" to make a shortcut for a folder or "Shortcuts" to add an icon for a specific item.
