How to Change the Monitor Resolution on a PC
Your monitor resolution affects the clarity of both images and text in addition to their size: at higher resolutions, images and text appear smaller but sharper, and more can fit on-screen. However, some users prefer to set their resolutions lower in order to better see onscreen items. The method to change the resolution in Windows 8 is mostly the same as with Windows 7, though the method to access these settings changed with Windows 8's new look.
-
1.
Open the Search charm, click "Settings" and type "Display" (without the quotation marks) into the search bar.
-
2.
Click "Change Display Settings" from the results to open the Screen Resolution window.
-
3.
Select your monitor resolution in the "Resolution" drop-down menu.
-
4.
Click "Apply" to save your changes and switch to the new monitor resolution.
