How to Adjust Toshiba Laptop Touchpad Settings
Many Toshiba laptops feature a touchpad that you can use to control the cursor on your Windows desktop. This increases the laptop’s portability because the touchpad replaces the need to connect a traditional mouse. However, productivity may suffer if you or your employees find it difficult to control the cursor using the touchpad. Adjusting the touchpad settings often resolves the problem and allows you to regain control over your Toshiba laptop.
-
1.
Click “Start” followed by “Control Panel” to open the Windows Control Panel.
-
2.
Type “Mouse” in the Control Panel’s search window, and then press the “Enter” key. Click “Mouse” from the list that appears to open the Mouse Properties dialog box.
-
3.
Click the “Pointer Options” tab.
-
4.
Locate the “Motion” section and then change the “Pointer Speed” slider to adjust the touchpad sensitivity. Moving the slider to the right increases the speed of your cursor; moving it to the left slows the speed of the cursor.
-
5.
Click the box to enable the “Enhance Pointer Precision” option.
-
6.
Adjust the cursor visibility settings, if desired. Options include displaying cursor trails, the ability to hide the cursor while typing and showing the location of the cursor by pressing the "Ctrl" key.
-
7.
Click “OK” to close the Mouse Properties dialog box. The Windows Control Panel window remains open.
-
8.
Test the speed and sensitivity of the touchpad by moving the cursor around your desktop. If you still are unhappy with the response, open the Mouse Properties dialog box and adjust the settings again. Otherwise, click the “X” in the upper right corner of the Control Panel to close the window.
