How to Access Advanced Boot Options in Windows 7
Windows 7's Advanced Boot Options dialog lets you select one of many options when booting your computer. These options are primarily designed for troubleshooting or repair purposes, so you can get your computer back into business use. Common selections from the Advanced Boot Options screen include the minimalistic Safe Mode, the recovery-bound Repair Your Computer option and the diagnostic Debuggging Mode. You can access this screen by pressing a hot key during Windows 7 startup.
-
1.
Click the Start button, select the "Shut Down" arrow and then choose "Restart."
-
2.
Press "F8" repeatedly while the computer reboots and before the Windows logo appears. If you see the Windows logo, you mistimed the hot key and must try again. If you're using a dual-boot system, select the appropriate boot partition before pressing "F8;" most users don't need to worry about this.

3.
Press the up or down arrow keys to highlight an option from the Advanced Boot Options window and press "Enter" to select it.
